About me

Hello, I’m Jessica (Jess).

If you’re here, you might be feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, stuck, or unsure where to begin. It may feel as though you're keeping things going on the outside while struggling underneath, finding it hard to switch off, or feeling lost in a period of change. It’s okay if things feel unclear right now.

I’m a humanistic integrative counsellor offering online and telephone counselling for adults across the UK and, where appropriate, internationally. My practice is based in Dorset and guided by the BACP Ethical Framework. I am fully insured, DBS checked, and a registered member of the BACP.

Many of the people I work with are navigating anxiety, overthinking, burnout, life changes, or a sense of feeling stuck. This may include difficulties connected to work, relationships, identity, self-esteem, or major life transitions such as becoming a parent.

Like many of the people I support, I understand how easy it can be to keep going on the outside while feeling overwhelmed underneath it all. I was drawn to counselling after experiencing the value of having a space where I could be my authentic self, feel heard, and feel genuinely supported.

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and, during my training placement, supported individuals experiencing difficulties relating to eating, body image, and self-worth.

Outside of counselling, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I also enjoy gardening, cooking, dancing, reading, learning new things, and spending time outdoors.

I understand that reaching out for support can feel daunting, especially when you're used to managing things on your own. You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy.

How I work

My approach is humanistic and integrative, which means I see you as a whole person and tailor the way I work to suit you, rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.

Sessions are a space where you can talk openly about whatever feels important to you. There’s no pressure to have the “right words” or to know exactly where to begin.

Together, we can explore your thoughts, feelings, relationships, and experiences, helping you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and what may be contributing to the difficulties you're facing. Some sessions may feel more reflective, exploring patterns or experiences from the past, while others focus on what feels most important in the present.

At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship we build together. I aim to offer a warm, compassionate environment where you can feel supported as we make sense of what’s going on and work towards meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you.

What I can help with

People come to therapy for many different reasons. You might be feeling overwhelmed, caught in patterns of overthinking, struggling to switch off, or finding it difficult to make sense of where you are and what you need. Many of the people I work with are navigating periods of change. This might include becoming a parent, changes in relationships or work, shifts in identity, or adjusting to a version of life that feels different from what they expected.

I often support people experiencing:

• Anxiety and overthinking
• Stress, overwhelm, and burnout
• Low mood and emotional difficulties
• Relationship challenges
• Self-esteem, identity, and sense of self
• Life transitions and periods of change
• Grief and loss, including the loss of a role, relationship, expectation, or version of yourself

I have a particular interest in supporting people through life transitions, especially when roles, identity, or expectations are shifting.

If what you're going through isn't listed here, you're still very welcome to get in touch.

What to expect

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you’re used to managing things on your own. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin.

Our first session is a chance for us to meet, talk about what’s brought you to therapy, and get a sense of whether working together feels right for you. There’s no pressure to share everything straight away, we can go at your pace.

Sessions are 50 minutes long and take place online or by telephone. Together, we can agree on a pace and frequency that feels manageable and supportive for you.

Above all, therapy is a space for you, somewhere you can talk openly, reflect, and begin to make sense of what you’re going through, in a way that feels right for you.
