FAQs

How often will we meet?

Counselling sessions are usually weekly, as meeting regularly can help us build consistency and make the most of our work together. However, we can discuss what feels manageable and appropriate for you.

How many counselling sessions will I need?

2

There isn't a set number of sessions that is right for everyone. Some people come to counselling for a shorter period to focus on something specific, while others find longer-term counselling helpful. We can talk about what you're hoping for and review how things are going as we work together.

What if I don't know what to talk about?

3

That's completely okay. You don't need to arrive with a plan or know exactly what you want to say. We can start with whatever feels most present for you, and if you're unsure where to begin, we can work that out together.

Is counselling confidential?

What you share in counselling is treated confidentially. There are some circumstances where I may need to share information, for example if there are serious concerns about safety or where I am legally required to do so. I will explain confidentiality and its limits when we begin working together, and wherever possible I would discuss any concerns with you first.

What if I decide counselling isn't right for me?

5

There is no obligation to continue counselling if it doesn't feel right for you. Finding a counsellor you feel comfortable with is important, and you're always free to decide whether you would like to continue.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?

6

I understand that sometimes plans change. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, I ask for at least 24 hours' notice.

Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice may still be charged in full. If you don't attend a session without letting me know, your regular session time may be released.

Payment for sessions is required at least 24 hours in advance.

How do I get started?

If you'd like to explore counselling with me, you can get in touch using the contact form on my website, or by email or phone. You don't need to know exactly what to say, a few lines about what's bringing you to counselling is enough.

If you'd like to, we can then arrange a free 15-minute introductory call to see how it feels and whether I might be the right counsellor for you.
